Early one morning years ago there was an American serviceman who was making his way back to the barracks in London. In his travels, he saw a little boy with his nose pressed to the window of a bakery, he was staring in silence at the delightful pastries. The serviceman’s heart went out to the little boy, who was probably an orphan. The man asked, “Son, would you like some of those?”
“Oh, yeah, I would!” said the young boy.
The serviceman stepped inside and bought a dozen of the treats. He took the bag outside to the boy and said, “Here you are son.”
As the serviceman turned to walk away, he felt a tug on his coat. He heard the young boy ask quietly, “Mister, are you God?”
According to John 3:16 giving is an attribute of God and this is the time of year that we remember how much that He has given to us. God the Father has given to us His Son. God loves to give! As citizens of heaven, we should be givers too, not only at the Christmas season, but as a way of life. When we give, we act as God does!
